We Live in a Boken World ...

The horrible brokenness of this world is on full display today in the horrible evil that happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

My heart is so heavy for the victims of today's shooting in Connecticut. Praying for all the families and everyone affected by this senseless tragedy. May they receive the grace and peace that can only come from the "Father of mercies and the God of all comfort." (2 Corinthians 1:3)
It is so senseless and unexplainable other than to say we know it is because of SIN.  Words are so in adequate for tragedies like this.

This horrible evil is a terrible reminder that we live in a dark time and Satan is  still on the prowl. It brings to mind the reality that Paul told us in Philippians 3:20 "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ."  This is the season we celebrate His first Advent, but it is also a time we should be looking forward to His second Advent. We know that Satan is still on the loose and spreading his carnage on this sin cursed world. Praise God, Satan's days are numbered. He is ultimately a defeated foe. Thank you Jesus!

Horrible evil like we saw today also reminds us that Satan especially hates children. The taking  of any life should "provoke outrage but there is something especially condemnable about the murder of children."(see Russell Moore's article on School Shooting and Spiritual Warfare)

 

Thus says the Lord:

"A voice is heard in Ramah,

lamentation and bitter weeping.

Rachel is weeping for her children;

she refuses to be comforted for her children,

because they are no more."

Jeremiah 31:15 ESV

Last, this tragedy is a reminder that America desperately needs a spiritual awakening and revival.
The days are dark and seem to be getting darker.

God help us! Have mercy on us and send revival.  Help us to be "salt and light" and make an impact on our dark world for Your glory.

The Bible depicts a timeline that includes past, present ad future.  God is not trapped in or limited by time. He created time as a construct within eternity - part of His creation.

The Bible's doctrine of eschatology, which focuses on Last Things, provides a future horizon for Christian theology and Christian living.  Believers are to live in anticipation of Christ's coming and in absolute confidence that God will consummate all things and accomplish His purposes.

The doctrine of Last Things focuses on Jesus Christ and His return. The Bible tells us that He will return to earth personally, visibly and gloriously.

When Christ returns, He will come in glory as a conquering king to claim His kingdom.

When Christ returns, the dead will be raised (1 Thess. 4:16). The promise of our resurrection is sure and certain. All those who have died - believers and unbelievers-  will experience the resurrection of the dead.

The righteous - those who are declarered righteous through faith in Christ- will be allowed into heaven.  The unrightous will be consigned to hell, the place of everlasting punishment (Rev. 20:11-15).

His Imminent Return: Are you ready?

Imminent - "likely to occur at any moment"

“But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32).


Don't listen to false teachers like Harold Caming who are setting dates for His return.   Mr Camping is half right. Christ is one day returning for His Bride. I don't think it will be on May 21. The Bible says no man, no angel and not even Jesus Christ know when He is returning. Only God the Father knows. So I don't believe Mr. Camping has received special revelation that even the Son of God does not know.

The important thing to know is are you ready for when Christ does return for His Bride (the Church)! Live each day with the motto: PERHAPS TODAY! Be ready to meet Him when He does return!

Is May 21 The End? by Moody Adams

For years Harold Camping, has proclaimed that the world will face “Judgment Day” on May 21, 2011.

His web site declares, “On May 21, 2011 two events will occur. These events could not be more opposite in nature, the one more wonderful than can be imagined; the other more horrific than can be imagined.

“A great earthquake will occur. . . .This earthquake will be so powerful it will throw open all graves. The remains of all the believer. . . will be. . . glorified. . .the bodies of all unsaved people will be thrown out upon the ground to be shamed.

“The inhabitants who survive this terrible earthquake will exist in a world of horror and chaos beyond description. Each day people will die until October 21, 2011 when God will completely destroy this earth and its surviving inhabitants.”

People are walking the streets of New York City holding signs that proclaiming May 21st will be the end. Billboards declare that, Scripture proves it.

The Bible clearly proclaims that no man knows the day: “But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32).

Again, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes” (Matt. 25:13).

"And Jesus sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately , saying , Tell us, when shall these things be ? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"( Matthew 24:3). Christ’s answer begins, “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4).

This illustrates American's widespread ignorance of the Bible.

The church is not to be arrogantly setting dates, but instead to be eagerly waiting for him. Of that we can be truly certain.

The important thing is that we believe in the return of Christ, and that we live lives of eternal perspective and godliness in light of our imminent deaths and His imminent return.
