Questions for Mary

But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.
Luke 2:19 ESV

In 1992 my sister gave me Max Lucado's book: God Came Near for my birthday.  I read for the first time "25 Questions for Mary". Questions that can't be answered and don't need to be answered.  They are only asked to remind us of the wonder and the mystery of the incarnation.  What happened when God became man and dwelt among us!  Later that same year I purchased Michael English's debut CD and he had a song called "Mary, Did You Know" on it. The song was written by Mark Lowery and Buddy Greene. Like the chapter in Lucado's book, "Mary, Did You Know" asks similar questions to Mary, the mother of Jesus.  20 years later, I still like the song and I still find these questions for Mary to be a helpful reminder of the importance of meditating on the mystery of the incarnation. To not miss the Majesty & Wonder of the Incarnation! To be intentional in stepping away from the hustle and bustle of Christmas and take time to truly reflect and meditate on (ponder) the majesty and wonder of the Incarnation: Immanuel - God With Us - God in the flesh. Born as a helpless baby. Majesty in a manger! Fully God - Fully Man!

Mary, Did You Know?

Lyrics written by Mark Lowery, music written by Buddy Greene

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your Baby Boy
Has come to make you new;
This Child that you delivered
Will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know that your Baby Boy
Has walked where Angels trod?
When you kiss your Little Baby,
You kiss the Face of God!

Oh, Mary, did you know?
Oh, Mary, did you know?

The blind will see, the deaf will hear,
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
The praises of the lamb!

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy
Will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your Baby Boy
Is Heaven's Perfect Lamb?
This sleeping Child you're holding
Is the Great I Am!
